The English word image means the image (the appearance of the object). In Russian, the word image sounds from about the mid-eighties. Not so long ago, a relatively new specialty for our country - the image-maker. If you asked a question, who is such an image-maker at least a few years ago, you would hardly have received an intelligible answer to it. Only a limited number of people knew anything concrete about this profession, since the profession itself as such spread in our country five years ago, and maybe a little earlier.

You, probably, noticed how people began to dress in the streets, there appeared, besides brown, gray, black, white, blue colors, also yellow, orange, well, in general - quite bright. People themselves have become image makers. The ideological structure of our former country did not require a special variety of image-images; there was a well-developed style of clothing, behavior, communication and life itself that corresponded to the “image of the builder of communism”. Unimage - this is the style in which our country was “dressed”.

“They meet each other by their clothes and see them off by their minds,” says the notorious Russian proverb. The idea of ​​a person, developing on the basis of his appearance, habits, manner of speaking, mentality, actions - all this is important for the image maker. The task of the image maker is not only to create a seemingly pleasant appearance (hairstyles, clothing styles), but also to change the person himself, so that he not only pleases his audience, the voter, but that he treats himself differently. Good, pleasant manners, confident movements, a pleasant smile - all this is included in the work of the image maker. Also, people of this kind are responsible for the development of texts, scripts, organization of speeches - everything is worked out to the details. A highly qualified image maker is also a good psychologist and PR specialist.

Image maker builds around his client any combinations that would contribute to the elevation of his image. Through all the available methods and technologies, he seeks to convey the image of the client, his ideas, the roles in which he acts to those for whom all this work is being done. Image maker seeks to achieve the necessary (not necessarily favorable) reflection of the image of the client in the “mirror of public opinion”.

Electoral campaigns provide a powerful impetus to the development of image-making as a special type of activity. Presidential candidates, political party leaders in elections to the State Duma, candidates for governor positions are often “served” by entire teams of image makers. The goal is to increase the attractiveness of the applicant in the eyes of the population. Another major consumer of image-maker services is show business.
