Architect

Lecture

The leading Russian university that trains specialists of this kind and is world-famous is the Moscow Architectural Institute (Moscow Architectural Institute). It should be noted that over time, architectural education becomes, relatively speaking, less artistic and more construction. Only a small number of graduates manage to find a job of an architectural profile, the majority become just designers.

Experts joke that the profession of the architect is more responsible than the doctor, since the latter can hide his mistake, and the mistake of the architect remains on the public eye for many years.

Recently, a requirement for architects to become a knowledge of computer programs that allow for the three-dimensional design of objects — AutoCAD and 3D Studio MAX (Arcon and ArchiCAD are less common) has become an almost mandatory requirement. It should be noted that a significant part of students receiving an education in the architectural profile is well known and ordinary programs that allow working with two-dimensional graphics (CorelDraw, PhotoShop, etc.).

Practicing architects, along with the actual design, exercise authorial control over the maintenance of construction and finishing works. In addition, the duties of the architect may include the selection of building and finishing materials, furniture, equipment, calculation of works, budgeting.

There are several levels of architectural design - at the level of the quarter, at the level of an individual building and at the level of an individual room. Of course, the architect’s share, first of all, is drawing up design projects for facades and interiors. For drawing up a competent design project, knowledge of color, the basics of composition and perspective, and volume modeling are necessary. In addition, there are frequent orders for redevelopment of premises. Architects can work both individually and as part of a construction company, as well as as part of specialized organizations for the development of architectural and construction projects.

At present, there are cases when the architect should directly deal with the coordination and approval of projects in the Moscow City Architecture Committee and other bodies responsible for building management in Moscow. This applies, above all, to those cases where work is carried out at sites recognized as architectural monuments.
