1. General characteristics of the profession

An assistant locomotive driver ensures the safe movement of locomotives and trains during the rail transportation of passengers and cargo. Performs instructions driver for the care of the locomotive and its maintenance. Monitors the operation of safety devices and radio communications. When troubleshooting locomotive takes the necessary measures to eliminate them as quickly as possible.

2. Requirements for the individual characteristics of a specialist

Adequate health, physical strength and endurance, high acuity of hearing and vision, quick response, developed eye (linear, planar, volumetric), the ability to distribute and quickly switch attention, good visual memory, a tendency to work with equipment are necessary.

3. Medical contraindications

The work is not recommended for people with diseases of the cardiovascular system with severe pathology, reduced visual acuity, narrowing of the visual fields, impaired binocularity and color sensation, chronic ear diseases with reduced function, disturbances in the vestibular apparatus, pronounced pathology of the musculoskeletal system, impeding movement ; suffering from bronchial asthma.

4. Requirements for training

He should know the basics of electrical engineering, materials science, the rules of operation of railways, the device and the rules of operation of the locomotive, the rules of safety.

Must be able to carry out locksmithing work, detect and troubleshoot locomotive faults, use radio communications.
