Secondary Power Supply

Lecture

IHE is an electronic device designed to convert an alternating voltage into a constant, desired value.

To obtain the necessary type of electrical energy, it is necessary to convert AC energy into DC energy with the help of rectifiers, DC energy into AC energy with the help of inverters.

  Secondary Power Supply

Rectifiers and inverters are sources of secondary power.
Consider a secondary power source that converts AC power to DC power. Such sources of secondary power supply (IHE) are necessary for powering various electronic equipment installations (DC motors, powering various amplifiers, chargers, etc.).
Straightening is the process of converting alternating current into direct current using rectifying devices with one-way conductivity. Rectifying devices consist of the main blocks: a transformer, an electric valve, a smoothing filter and a voltage stabilizer.
Modern electronic semiconductor devices in discrete and especially in microelectronic performance impose very strict requirements on the quality of consumed energy ***, which should be highly stable

Classification IWE

1. Uncontrollable (diode), controlled (thyristor).
2. According to the number of phases of the supply AC voltage: single-phase, three-phase
3. The shape of the rectified voltage: half-wave, full-wave (bridge, from the midpoint of the transformer).
Single-phase low-power rectifying devices are used to supply DC consumers with power from 1W to 1 kW. Accordingly, the power supply is called a low power secondary power supply (MIEA).

Consider the block diagram of the device MIHE fig. one.

Description of the work of the main blocks MIEA

At the input, a transformer (Tr) changes the alternating voltage Uc to the required value U2, that is, it coordinates the input voltage with the load and electrically isolates the source of the rectifying voltage and the load device.
After the transformer there is a valve diode group (B), where U2 is converted into a pulsating voltage Uп. The number of valves depends on the rectifier circuit.
In the rectified voltage Uп, in addition to the constant component, there is a variable, which with the help of a smoothing filter (Cf) decreases to the required level U and has very small pulsations.
The voltage stabilizer (St) keeps the voltage Un in the load device Rh unchanged.
Depending on the operating conditions, some units may be missing (transformer or stabilizer).
For rectifying a single-phase alternating voltage, two types of rectifiers are used: half-wave and full-wave
