How smile deceives the mind

Lecture

The ability to decode smiles is embedded in the human brain in order to ensure survival. A smile is an important signal of subordination. Primitive people needed to recognize the nature of a smile in order to immediately understand whether an approaching stranger is friendly or a threat. The one who made the mistake regretted it bitterly.

Looking at the picture above, you will almost certainly recognize the actor Hugh Grant. When describing the emotions experienced by the actor in this picture, most people say that he is relaxed and happy about what his smiling face says. When the picture is turned into a normal position, the emotional attitude of the actor changes completely.
We cut, and then turned over the eyes and Grant's smile, resulting in a monstrous physiognomy. But, as you have already seen, your brain was able to recognize a smile even upside down. The human brain is able to separate the smile from all other parts of the face. And this once again proves the enormous influence that a smile has on a person.
