Evaluation gestures

Lecture

The assessment is manifested with the help of a clenched palm held to the chin or cheek, with the index finger pointing upwards, when a person begins to lose interest, he tries to look interested for reasons of courtesy. As interest decreases, the pressure on the palm increases, and the assessment gesture turns into an expression of boredom.

An interested assessment - the head does not need support, the palm touches the cheek This person is clearly negative
Middle managers often use this gesture to demonstrate their interest during the long and tedious speech of the company's president. Unfortunately, as soon as the hand ceases to touch the cheek, and begins to support the head, their interest begins to look too much like boredom. The president immediately feels that his managers are insincere and try to simply flatter him.

Either he had already heard enough, or you could not impress him

Sincere interest is felt when the hand of a person slightly rests on the cheek, and is not a support for the head. When the index finger is pointing vertically, and the chin supports the chin, it becomes clear that the listener is negatively or critically adjusted, either in relation to the speaker or in connection with the issue under discussion. Sometimes the index finger rubs or delays the corner of the eye. This signal also indicates a negative attitude.
Unfortunately, this gesture is very often taken as an expression of interest. However, the thumb supporting the chin clearly indicates a critical attitude. Holding a gesture for a certain time affects the person’s mood. The longer he is in a similar posture, the stronger his criticism becomes. Such a chain of gestures requires the speaker to take immediate action. It is necessary either to involve the listener in the conversation, or to end his own speech. Ask the listener to take something. A simple gesture will lead to a change in posture, and consequently, to a change in mood.
