How body language reveals emotions and thoughts

Lecture

Body language is an external reflection of a person’s emotional state. Every gesture or movement is the key to the feelings that a person is experiencing at the moment: For example, a man who is aware that he is beginning to gain weight may twist a fold under his chin at the moment of thought. A woman who realizes that her hips are too full will pull her skirt unconsciously and pull her down. A person who is fearful or defensive is crossing his arms or legs. A man who speaks with a pyshnogruda interlocutor, deliberately trying not to look at her chest, but at the same time, unconsciously makes the feeling gestures with his hands.

In order to understand the language of body movements, you must understand the emotional state of a person at the time of the conversation, to hear what has been said and to take into account the circumstances in which the conversation is conducted. This will allow you to separate the facts from speculation, reality and fantasy. Not so long ago, we, people, attached excessive importance to words and oratory. However, most people do not completely understand the signals of the body language and the impact they have. And this is despite the fact that we know for sure: most of the information in the course of a conversation is transmitted using body signals. Let's give an example. French President Chirac, US President Ronald Reagan, Australian Prime Minister Bob Hawk actively use gestures to express the relative scale of the problem under discussion in his own presentation. Bob Hawk once advocated an increase in the salaries of politicians, comparing their incomes with the incomes of the leaders of large firms and enterprises. He argued that the salaries of managers are prohibitively high, while the salary increase that they offer to politicians is relatively small. Every time, mentioning the incomes of politicians, Hawk spread his arms about a meter. When he spoke about the salaries of managers, he spread his hands only 30 centimeters. The distance between the palms of the Prime Minister indicated that he was well aware of the significant benefits of his proposal to politicians, despite all the verbal tricks.

How body language reveals emotions and thoughts
President Jacques Chirac: shows the scale of the problem under discussion, or simply talks about his own love affairs?
