Octod - electronic lamp with eight electrodes

Octod is an electron tube with eight electrodes — an anode, cathode, and six grids.

Octod is a further development of heptode. The appearance of the sixth grid in frequency conversion lamps was dictated by the desire to return the pentagridantodinatron grid. Thus, octod is the same pentagride, but with an additional anti-inatron mesh. However, this idea did not give tangible quality improvements, but significantly reduced the reliability of the lamp due to the large technological difficulties with placing six grids in one cylinder. In the entire history of the development of lamp technology, only a few types of octodes were created, of which German AK-1, AK-2, SK-1 and KK-2 types of lamps reached the stage of industrial production, differing only in parameters heater and footplates.
