Sexual abuse

Reports of the spread of sexual coercion and sexual aggression vary depending on the definition of sexual coercion and the techniques with which the facts are gathered. Since then, by sexual coercion, we understand any sexual behavior imposed by the unwilling victim.
The most extreme form of sexual aggression is rape. However, “milder” forms of sexual coercion, such as the violent weasel of the genitalia, also fit our definition. Five hundred university students were asked to answer the question whether they resorted to violence, trying to persuade their partner to have sex against his will. Approximately 12% of men and about 2% of women used force. Approximately 35% of female students and about 21% of students reported that they were objects of such coercion.

More than six thousand students answered questions from the Sexual Experience Questionnaire on various aspects of sexual aggression, which they could have been exposed to at the age of fourteen. The girls answered questions about sexual harassment, and the young men - regarding the use of force in relationships with women. The researchers divided the questions into groups depending on the level of sexual aggression.
Sexual coercion involves sexual intercourse due to a man's use of force or incessant pressure on his part. An attempt at rape is the pursuit of threats, force, alcohol or
drug incline to sexual intercourse.
Rape is a sexual act that takes place after threats, the use of force or the use of alcohol or drugs. Sexual contact implies the existence of a “sexual game” (for example, kissing, caressing) under pressure of persuasion, authority, threats or force. More than 50% of women reported being subjected to various forms of sexual harassment. Based on the respondents' answers regarding their sexual harassment, the researchers concluded that 14.4% of them were forced to have sex, 11.9% were sexually forced, 12.1% were attempted rape, 15.4% were rape. More than 25% of men who participated in the survey admitted that they had also been subjected to various forms of sexual aggression.

In this section, we will consider factors related to manifestations of sexual aggression. From a scientific point of view, research psychologists were most interested in the personal characteristics of offenders (that is, attitudes, personality, environment), as well as alcohol consumption by the aggressor and / or his victim. The influence of erotica / pornography will be discussed in the next section.
