6. Functions of communication theory

Communication theory as a science and as a discipline performs certain functions, knowledge and understanding of which is necessary for the study of various sciences, as well as for the understanding of specific communication processes.

The main functions of the theory of communication:

  • cognitive
  • methodological
  • prognostic
  • practical (instrumental)

To implement the functions of the TC, a large and painstaking, active and creative work of theorists and practitioners is needed.
