Geometric mean

Lecture

To find the geometric mean , you need to multiply all the numbers and extract the root from them. The degree of the root is determined by the number of numbers.

Example:

Find the geometric mean of 2.4 and 8.

Denote the geometric mean by the letter n.

By definition, we find the product of all numbers.

2 x 4 x 8 = 64.

By condition, we are given 3 numbers, so the root that we will extract from the work will be of the third degree (cubic).

As a result, we get the geometric average formula :

Interesting fact: the geometric mean will always be less than the arithmetic mean of the same numbers. Except when all the numbers taken are equal to each other.
