ovo factorial is derived from the Latin factor (making, producing).

The factorial of a number is the product of natural numbers from 1 to the number itself (including this number).
Denoted by factorial exclamation mark "!".

Examples:

  • 3! = 1 • 2 • 3 = 6
  • 6! = 1 • 2 • 3 • 4 • 5 • 6 = 720

Factorial is defined only for natural numbers and zero.

The factorial of zero and the unit is 1.

  • 0! = 1
  • one! = 1

The term factorial was introduced in 1800 by the French mathematics Argobast Louis Francois Antoine.

Designation n! later came up with the German mathematician Christian Crump in 1808.

Check out interesting factorials for yourself:

  • 145 = 1! + 4! + 5! = 1 + 24 + 120 = 145
  • 40 585 = 4! + 0! + 5! +8! + 5!
