4. The identity of the teacher of a technical university. Introduction to pedagogical deontology

The term “deontology” was introduced into scientific circulation at the beginning of the XIX century. English philosopher I.Bentam to designate the science of human professional behavior. The concept of “deontology” is equally applicable to any sphere of professional activity: educational, medical, legal, engineering, etc.

Pedagogical deontology develops the rules and norms of behavior of a teacher in the field of his professional activity. The display of regulatory requirements, professional norms in the mind allows the teacher to more fully and adequately perceive the pedagogical reality, navigate it, develop a strategy and tactics, plans and goals of professional activity, consciously regulate their behavior. These rules and norms are both a condition and a product, and a means of learning pedagogical reality. With their help, the teacher develops the attitude towards himself as a professional, to other participants in the pedagogical process, through their prism evaluates all the facts of pedagogical reality.

The teacher should first of all be guided in his professional behavior and activities by formalized norms, enshrined in particular in the charters of specific educational institutions, in the Law of the Russian Federation “On Education”. Let us cite some excerpts from the Law of the Russian Federation “On Education” as an example of formalized norms.

“Article 55. 1. Employees of educational institutions have the right to participate in the management of an educational institution, to protect their professional honor and dignity.

2. A disciplinary investigation of violations by a pedagogical employee of the norms of professional behavior and (or) the charter of an educational institution may be conducted only on the basis of a complaint submitted to him, submitted in writing. A copy of the complaint must be handed to the pedagogical worker.

4. In the performance of their professional duties, teachers have the right to freedom of choice and use of methods of training and education, teaching aids and materials, textbooks, methods for assessing students' knowledge.

Article 56. 3. In addition to the grounds stipulated by the labor legislation of the Russian Federation, the grounds for dismissing a teacher on the initiative of the administration before the expiration of the contract are:

a) repeated gross violation of the charter of an educational institution during the year;

b) the use, including one-time, of methods of upbringing associated with physical and (or) mental violence over the personality of the student, pupil ;

c) appearance at work in a state of alcoholic, narcotic or toxic intoxication.
