4.4. Psychological Causes of Poverty in Russia - The Psychology of Poverty and Wealth

One of the psychological causes of poverty in our country and former socialist countries, foreign psychologists see, for example, in the overestimated level of consumer claims of our population after the opening of the iron curtain. Some authors attribute this phenomenon to the fact that most of the financial self-control is not developed, i.e. just violated the temporal perspective of economic behavior.

Our domestic poor people experiencing economic hardships - in most cases, not the lumpen, but the victims of the dramatic stratification and costs of the economic policy of the transition period. But the objective causes of poverty do not diminish the role of subjective causes, therefore an important socio-political task is to promote favorable reform from the bottom up, affecting personality variables of people.
