GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF ECONOMIC PSYCHOLOGY

Economic psychology is a science that studies the behavior of people in conditions of economic relations, i.e. in terms of production, distribution, exchange, consumption, ownership and management.

The object of economic psychology are individuals and groups operating in the economic environment as participants and organizers of production, owners, shareholders, employees, administration, buyers, i.e. personalities in all roles that are performed by actors in different markets.

The subject of economic psychology are the laws and characteristics of the manifestation of personal and group properties, qualities in the economic environment and the impact on economic behavior, on actions, on success in activities, as well as factors and mechanisms of the impact of economic phenomena on the formation of personality and its behavior.

The purpose of studying the discipline : to give an idea of ​​the subject, history, condition, problems and prospects of science - "economic psychology."

Economic psychology can be rightfully regarded as a basic discipline, mastering of which allows to solve the following problems :

  • the formation of knowledge in the main directions of the history and development of economic psychology;
  • the study of the characteristics of the psychology of economic behavior in its various forms: from daily economic activity to economic policy;
  • studying the ideas of individuals and groups about economic phenomena and processes in the new economic situation in society, their behavior based on these ideas;
  • training in the analysis of the economic behavior of subjects, the perception of the state economic policy.

As a result of studying the course “Economic Psychology”, students should:

know :

  • history of the development of economic psychology as a system of scientific knowledge;
  • basic concepts of economic psychology;
  • the basic mechanisms of economic behavior of the individual and social groups in the sphere of economic life;
  • models of economic behavior, its irreducibility only to rational behavior;

be able to:

  • to be guided in the psychological aspects of the problems of finance and money circulation, consumer behavior, economic policy;
  • analyze problem situations in their economic and psychological aspects;
  • find and analyze psychological factors affecting economic activity;
  • understand the psychological basis of economic behavior;
  • predict the possible consequences of the influence of psychological factors on various forms of economic behavior;
  • take into account and explain the variability of models of economic behavior;
  • pay attention to individual differences in behavior;
  • use the knowledge and recommendations in relation to their own economic behavior.
