Event report

Lecture

The main features of event reporting include the speed and relevance. The first quality is manifested in the fact that an event report is always an instant and even momentary response to what is happening. Therefore, it is this type of reporting that is especially characteristic of chronological following an event, a precise indication of the place and time of the action, due to which the “presence effect” is created. The subject of the reportage description is an event that occurs before the eyes of the reporter and finds its visual representation in the text as the result of the author's observations directly. From the point of view of relevance, event reporting is always devoted to a socially significant topic.
To show events in dynamics, the reporter needs to put the brightest and most emotionally intense moments in the center of the piece. At the same time, the author should not only clearly describe the actions unfolding in his eyes, but also keep track of all his turns and collisions. In the report, the author’s position is dominant, since it is through his personal perception that the entire flavor of the events is conveyed to the reader. To create a “presence effect,” the author can share his immediate feelings and impressions with readers, describe his inner feelings and emotions, evaluate, and bring his own reasoning and comments.
Documentation and accuracy of the image are achieved through the creation of a “visual effect”. The means by which this effect is achieved are very diverse.
§ use of bright details and details. Through this kind of informative elements, one can describe various objects or objects of the material world, characterize the behavior of people, describe the external situation of an event;
§ use of speech strategies. Mini-dialogs, mini-interviews, remarks, etc. help to reproduce in the report the speech of the heroes, thereby bringing the living voices of real people into the fabric of the reportage.
Thus, it can be noted that event-based reporting, on the one hand, can be based on events that require their operational coverage, and on the other, those that need to penetrate into the inner essence. But in either case, the selection of the brightest and most significant elements of the event is required, as well as showing them through a dynamic action or through a description of internal tension. Especially important is the creation of a "presence effect". The reader should see the eyes of the author, empathize with him, clearly represent the time and place of reportage action.
