The doctrine of yoga (translated from Sanskrit the word "yoga" means union, connection) is considered by experts as the harmony of the three elements of man: physical, mental and spiritual. There are several areas of yoga: Hatha yoga is the path to physical perfection; Kriya Yoga considers the moral values of being; Raja-yoga (highest yoga) helps to unlock the potential of the individual through self-regulation of the psyche using special methods of attention concentration, autogenic training, etc. The first step towards personal development is Kriya Yoga, which consists of two inseparable parts: yama and niyama.
The pit includes five main sections: Ahimsa teaches to relate to other people as you would like them to treat you; no one and no harm to deeds, words and thoughts; Satya teaches truth and sincerity; Asteya provides for deliverance from envy, greed; brahmacharya preaches moderation; aparigraha provides freedom from hoarding.
After the person has mastered the principles of the pit, he begins to comprehend niyama, which also provides for five basic principles: chaoch is the cornerstone of niyama and provides for internal and external purification; Santosha teaches achievement of balance, control over desires, and body tapas develops self-discipline by adhering to hygienic principles, hardening and physical exercises, speech tapas teaches to speak only the truth and provides for control of speech, and mind tapas develops balance of mind in any circumstance; Swadhyaya provides for regular reading of literature covering issues of culture, philosophy, and physiology; Isvara-pranidhana teaches to be in harmony both with oneself and with the whole world.
The study of pits and niyamas from a physiological and medical point of view is due to the fact that a person must be in harmony with his environment in order to preserve health. Social factors have an important, and often decisive, effect on a particular individual, on a specific person. Many factors of social life have a damaging effect on human health, affecting his psycho-emotional sphere. Being trained in pits and niyam, a person is freed from vices, bad habits, acquires the ability to control himself.
Many diseases, teaches yoga, occur under the influence of direct or indirect psychological effects: stress, negative emotions, bad thoughts and actions leading to various diseases of the body and soul. It is important that these diseases often appear after many days, months and even years after the action of damaging factors.
The pose in hatha yoga is called asana (body position to maintain a stationary state or to prepare a subsequent movement). Asanas have a pronounced effect on the entire body, not only in the physical, but also in the psychological aspect. It is known that the mental state certainly affects the physical state. According to yoga, asanas are able to influence the human psyche, which is used in yogotherapy. Asanas lead to stability not only of the body, but also of the mind, contribute to overcoming instability and variability. It is believed that a correctly performed asana is characterized by its smooth, easy, free and beautiful beginning (entrance) and the same smooth ending (exit). Having taken a pose, one should relax the body and the consciousness as much as possible, but the asana itself (body position) is preserved.
