Solving quadratic equations with complex numbers

Lecture

We write the quadratic equation in general:

kx 2 + px + q = 0,

where k, p, q are real numbers. It is known from elementary mathematics that if D> 0, then the equation has two real roots, and if D = 0, then one. The case of D <0 in elementary mathematics is not considered, but simply the conclusion is drawn that there are no roots. However, using complex numbers, we can define the set of solutions of a quadratic term for D <0. If this is the case, then we say that the equation has complex roots. When this designate and the roots are found by the formula
