PSYCHOANALYTICAL DIRECTION

Lecture

So, with all due respect to other areas of classical psychotherapy and with all the shortcomings (fair and unfair) noted in Sigmund Freud's psychoanalysis, we can confidently say that psychotherapy in its modern scientific understanding began with S. Freud's psychoanalysis. Moreover, the influence of this direction and the personality of its author turned out to be so powerful that they touched almost all cultural spheres of modern society: politics, religion, literature and art.

We are no longer talking about psychology and psychotherapy, in which the ideas of S. Freud and no less than their criticism have generated countless theories, concepts, schools and practical methods of treatment and psychocorrection.

In connection with the impossibility of “embracing the immense”, we will touch here only three teachings within the framework of psychoanalysis, which have already become classic: psychoanalysis of Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, Alfred Adler, Karen Horney, and elaborate on the features of Roberto Assagioli’s psychosynthesis without putting it in one row with Freud, Jung and Adler theoretically, but recognizing its practical role in the development of the ideas of great psychoanalysts to the level of a clear and original practical realization, which has become widespread.
