Caffeine from Google: how did it affect SEO and internet marketing in general?

I know you’ve all read Google’s “Caffeine” and I know that this post can be considered obsolete. I also read a lot of articles on this subject, but I didn’t see stories about how he influenced SEO.

Therefore, in this post I want to find out how “Caffeine” influenced the ranking and SEO approaches.

I think first you need to summarize how Google indexed the pages before and what has changed with the advent of “Caffeine”.

Caffeine from Google: how did it affect SEO and internet marketing in general?

Google past

When you search Google, you see only the indexed part of the Internet. The Google index was similar to layers, and it is clear that there were layers that were indexed faster than others, based on PR pages. But in order to update Google search results, we had to re-index sites for a new one, which caused delays of up to 2 weeks (according to the official Google blog.)

Such a delay in issuing meant the lack of fresh stories and information, hence, Google began to attach greater importance to Twitter, Google news and Google blog.

I don’t want to go further into this topic, you can read about it and watch a short video - Google representative, Matt Cutts.

And so ... came "Caffeine" !!!

“Caffeine” has come, and this means that all our fresh content is constantly indexed, now Google doesn’t have to index the entire Internet again before adding a new blog entry to the index. "Caffeine" means increased availability, aimed at rapid indexing of the freshest content on the web.

The update means that Google’s output has become 50% fresh and users will now be able to find more recent information on specific queries.

So, Caffeine is great for users, but what does this mean for SEOs and webmasters who are addicted to Google traffic?

A few thoughts, running ahead

Google officials say that "Caffeine" does not affect the ranking, but there are suggestions that the information collected may be used to further develop search results.

Faster content = faster traffic

Essentially, written and optimized content for long-term traffic should start to bring this traffic faster. Of course there is a reservation - do not forget to build a link mass, because the search engine will not index content from a site that does not have a trust. Therefore, the success of indexing depends on the link mass of the site.

The best way to quickly index content is to post it to bookmarks or social networks (which you should always do).

Will old pages suffer from this?

No one can give an exact answer to this question. If the issue algorithm has not changed, then no matter how fresh the page is, the one that is optimized better and has more links will be higher. However, we have already noticed interesting results on several keywords of our clients, when fresh content, almost without references, immediately found itself in the TOP 5 issue, but it was placed on truly authoritative sites.

Does this mean we need to update old content? Not that, but one thing must always be kept in mind: always expect changes in positions in the issue of keywords that are interesting and most often used in the media.

Faster growth of reference mass

When Google indexes a page, it also analyzes who you link to and who links to you . Now this information is collected faster than before, so those 1000 links that you bought 10 minutes ago can be immediately detected by Google and recorded in a few minutes.

This can be a positive thing, because now Google will receive fresh links faster, which can accelerate the promotion. Being engaged in viral marketing, we see results only in a week or two, and with "Caffeine" it will be faster.

I will not lie, this is all thinking, however, I think that "Caffeine" is the right step in the right direction and should not greatly affect your SEO, except of course focusing on the freshness of the content.
