Lecture 4. General concepts of the relational approach to database organization. Basic concepts and terms

In this lecture, we will introduce, at a relatively informal level, the basic concepts of relational databases, and also define the essence of the relational data model. The main purpose of the lecture is to demonstrate the simplicity and the possibility of an intuitive interpretation of these concepts. In further lectures, more formal definitions will be given, on which the mathematical theory of relational databases is based.
